The file was detected by a few of the anti-virus programs and digitally signed by a publisher called "Max Source" located in Israel. The "runonce" scenario happened to our desk top last night. I spent all day today trying to get rid of the thing and I think I finally got it. I am not computer savy at all but I am persistent. I have Century Link internet with Norton anti-virus. A quick scan did not get rid of the problem however if look at the norton site there is a function called "power eraser".
I used this and was able to remove the "runonce" problem. This problem happened to my son's machine right after downloading NERO. After much research I did find that the runonce wrapper was the issue. I tried deleting it to no avail so what I ended up doing was using AVG shredder and shredded the runonce wrapper file. His desktop now shows on reboot.
So far, removing the file has not caused any other issues with his computer. He is running Windows 8 32 bit. I have had the same problem since downloading Java of all things! It is so frustrating. I have tried a restore and that fails telling me I have a corrupt file on my c: drive.
This is driving my crazy! At least I had found the same temporary fix as everyone else ending the run once on task manager. I will try Process Explorer and se if that works.
