It can also help you make sure that the Prestige forwards certain types of traffic especially real-time applications with minimum delay. The Prestige has two types of scheduler: fairness-based and priority-based.
When only one class requires more bandwidth, the Prestige gives extra bandwidth to that class. When multiple classes require more bandwidth, the Prestige gives the highest priority classes the available bandwidth first as much as they require, if there is enough available bandwidth , and then to lower priority classes if there is still bandwidth available.
The Prestige divides up the unbudgeted 2 Mbps among the classes that require more bandwidth. If the administration department only uses 1 Mbps of the budgeted 2 Mbps, the Prestige also divides the remaining 1 Mbps among the classes that require more bandwidth. The Bill class can also borrow unused bandwidth from the Sales class because the Sales USA class also has bandwidth borrowing enabled. The Amy class cannot borrow unused bandwidth from the Sales USA class because the Amy class has bandwidth borrowing disabled.
Not all interfaces are available on every Prestige. Select Priority-Based to give preference to bandwidth classes with higher priorities. Select Fairness-Based to treat all bandwidth classes equally. See section The higher the number, the higher the priority. The default setting is 3. Borrow bandwidth Select this option to allow a child-class to borrow bandwidth from its parent class if from parent class Budget kbps This field displays the amount of bandwidth allocated to the class.

If the upload was not successful, the following screen will appear. See the web configurator parts of this guide for background information on features configurable by web configurator and SMT. Several operations that you should be familiar with before you attempt to modify the configuration are listed in the table below. Schedule Setup Use this menu to schedule outgoing calls.
Exit Use this to exit from SMT and return to a blank screen. The System Name field is for identification purposes. If you leave this field zyxel. You can go to menu Page Figure Menu 1. From the main menu, enter 3 to display menu 3. For bridging Ethernet setup refer to the Bridging Setup chapter. This chapter is only applicable to the Prestige and Prestige HW. Page Figure Menu 3. Select Disable allows wireless stations to communicate with the access points without any data encryption.
Menu 4 is actually a simplified setup for one of the remote nodes that you can access in menu Before you configure your Prestige for Internet access, you need to collect your Internet account information.
A remote node is required for placing calls to a remote gateway. A remote node represents both the remote gateway and the network behind it across a WAN connection. Page Figure Menu The login name and the Rem Password will be used to authenticate this node. You can apply up to four schedule sets here.
For more details please refer to the Call Scheduling chapter. The number must be between "1" and "15"; a number greater than "15" means the link is down. The smaller the number, the lower the "cost".
If any two of the default routes have the same metric, the Prestige uses the following pre-defined priorities: 1. Select one of the NAT server sets in menu Use Menu SMT input protocol filter set numbers that were previously applied are erased after you apply the Internet Security filter rules in the web configurator. They are used exclusively by the web configurator. Any rules you configured in sets 11 and 12 will be erased and replaced when you apply the web configurator-generated filter rules.

IP Static Route 3. Page Figure Menu If set to Yes, this route is kept private and is not included in RIP broadcasts. Page Table Menu Route Name Type a name for the bridge static route for identification purposes.
To use this set, a server rule must be set up inside the NAT address mapping set. Please see the section on port forwarding in the chapter on NAT web configurator screens for further information on these menus.
For example, if you have already configured rules 1 to 6 in your current set and now you configure rule number 9. In the set summary screen, the new rule will be rule 7, not 9. Now if you delete rule 4, rules 5 to 7 will be pushed up by 1 rule, so as old rule 5 becomes rule 4, old rule 6 becomes rule 5 and old rule 7 becomes rule 6. There are two types of filter applications: data filtering and call filtering.
You can configure up to twelve filter sets with six rules in each set, for a total of 72 filter rules in the system. Enter 21 in the main menu to display Menu 21 — Filter Set Configuration. Port Type the destination port of the packets you want to filter. The purpose of generic rules is to allow you to filter non-IP packets.
For IP, it is generally easier to use the IP rules directly. For generic rules, the Prestige treats a packet as a byte stream as opposed to an IP packet. Protocol Filter rules act on IP packets. When NAT Network Address Translation is enabled, the inside IP address and port number are replaced on a connection-by-connection basis, which makes it impossible to know the exact address and port on the wire.
Enter the index number of the filter set you want to configure in this case 6 Step 3. Type 1 to configure the first filter rule. Make the entries in this menu as shown next. You may apply protocol or device filter rules. See earlier in this chapter for information on filters. Output Filter Sets: Apply filters for traffic leaving the Prestige. Your Prestige supports SNMP agent functionality, which allows a manager station to manage and monitor the Prestige through the network.
Page Supported Mibs Trap - Used by the agent to inform the manager of some events. The focus of the MIBs is to let administrators collect statistic data and monitor status and performance. Databases The authentication database contains wireless station login information. Status This shows the current status of the LAN. Routing Refers to the routing protocol used. View Error Log 2. Enter 1 from Menu Reboot System Once you have customized the Prestige's settings, they can be saved back to your computer under a filename of your choosing.

Predefined field choices are in Bold Arial font. DSL Digital Subscriber Line technology enhances the data capacity of the existing twisted-pair wire that runs between the local telephone company switching offices and most homes and offices. While the wire itself can handle higher frequencies, the telephone switching equipment is designed to cut off signals above 4, Hz to filter noise off the voice line, but now everybody is searching for ways to get more bandwidth to improve access to the Web - hence DSL technologies.
No configuration is needed to support these applications. Page 29 Housing Your Prestige's all new compact and ventilated housing minimizes space requirements making it easy to position anywhere in your busy office.

While you must enter the host name System Name on each individual computer, the domain name can be assigned from the Prestige via DHCP. Where you obtain your network number depends on your particular situation.
If the ISP or your network administrator assigns you a block of registered IP addresses, follow their instructions in selecting the IP addresses and the subnet mask. Page Private Ip Addresses RIP-1 is probably adequate for most networks, unless you have an unusual network topology. Page Ip Multicast IP Alias allows you to partition a physical network into different logical networks over the same Ethernet interface. Page Figure Menu 3. When menu 11 appears, as shown in the following figure, type the number of the remote node that you want to configure. For LAN-to-LAN applications, for example, between a branch office and corporate headquarters, prior agreement on methods is necessary because encapsulation and multiplexing cannot be automatically determined.
Page Figure Menu Page Outgoing Authentication Protocol If the peer disconnects right after a successful authentication, make sure that you specify the correct authentication protocol when connecting to such an implementation. Step 1. In menu Configure the filter sets in menu 25 first see the IP Policy Routing chapter and then apply them here.
Menu Page Ip Static Route Setup Static routes tell the Prestige routing information that it cannot learn automatically through other means.
This can arise in cases where RIP is disabled on the LAN or a remote network is beyond the one that is directly connected to a remote node. For instance, the Prestige knows about network N2 in the following figure through remote node Router 1. However, the Prestige is unable to route a packet to network N3 because it does not know that there is a route through remote node Router 1 via Router 2. Follow the discussion on IP Subnet Mask in this manual.
The gateway is an immediate neighbor of your Prestige that will forward the packet to the destination. Bridging Setup Menu Global This refers to the packet address source or destination as the packet travels on the WAN. This chapter discusses how to configure NAT on the Prestige.
